In Greek mythology, Arethusa was a nymph and Nereid, who fled from her home in Arcadia beneath the sea and, to avoid capture, transformed into a fresh water stream on the island of Ortygia in Syracuse, Sicily.
Arethusa is one of a series of new works exploring water, flow and turbulence. Tightly wound forms in steel explore the expressive potential of the travelling line, here evoking the twisting linear flow of water.
